   IEEE-DEST Conference Series

     The 1st IEEE/IES Conference on Digital Ecosystems and Technologies was held in Cairns Australia during 21-23 Feb 2007. The conference was high successful with 70 papers presented and over 150 attendees for this first conference. It addresses open technological challenges in the intersections between IT and Industry, IT and government, IT and Business IT and Humanities, IT and its Social Economic and Political Impact. The conference provided a new vision of strategically inspiration and application driven research and created a new synergies between enabling technologies and industries as well as human society, and placed itself a unique position to contribute to the society in electronic-digital domain as well as social economic domain. With the initiative from European Union’s Six Framework Project and the support of IEEE IES from North American, the holding of the conference in Australia in the Asia Pacific region, the conference has become a heady intellectual brew in this golden intellectual triangle. According to the International Advisory Board suggestion, the Technical Committee has agreed that IEEE DEST conference series shall be held in Asia-Pacific at two years in a row and every third year in Europe.
